该点剖面岩石地层单位包括东乡组、老沟组（虎家梁组）、柳树组和积石组，在下部老沟组（虎家梁组）中产铲齿象(Platybelodon)化石。在剖面上部柳树组则产丰富的三趾马（Hipparion）化石与其共生的其他哺乳动物化石包括东乡三趾马（Hipparion dongxiangense）,阔鼻宁夏犀（Ningxiatherium euryrhinus）, 陕西旋角羚（Shaanxispira sp.）和巨鬣狗（Dinocrocuta gigantea）。
The lithostratigraphic sequence at this site includes the Dongxiang Formation, Laogou Formation (Hujialiang Formation), Liushu Formation and Jishi Formation. Platybelodon fossils are found in the lower Laogou Formation (Hujialiang Formation). In the upper part of the profile, the Liushu Formation is rich in Hipparion and other symbiotic mammalian fossils, including Hipparion dong xiangense, Ningxiatherium euryrhinus, Shaanxispira sp. and Dinocrocuta gigantea.
