因黄河、湟水河、大通河在这里交汇而得名，尤其是黄色的黄河水和红色的是湟水河交汇，从泾渭分明到逐渐浑染，极具色彩感。三条河交汇形成宽阔的河面，一眼望不到边，河岸沼泽地带芦苇丛生，为稀有飞禽提供了繁衍栖息的好场所。
The Yellow River, the Huangshui River and the Datong River meet here, that is why this name is called. Especially, yellow water from the Yellow River and red water front Huangshui River meet here, from being clear to gradually muddy dyeing, it has a strong sense of color. The confluence of the three rivers forms vast swamps and wetlands, and provides a wide habitat for rare and endemic species of animals and plants.
