These two lakes are formed due to the construction of hydropower stations on the Yellow River. The water storage capacity of Bingling Lake reaches up to 5.7 billion m3, with a water area of more than 130 km2, extending from southwest to northeast direction for about 54 km long. The Taiji Lake has a large S-shaped turn. There are 9 islands in the lake, and two sand islands in the middle of the water, which look very similar to a natural Taiji figure.
