花儿是流行于甘肃省临夏、甘南、岷县等地的独具风格的民歌，具有高亢嘹亮、挺拔明快、激越动听的特色。“花儿”最早是起源于甘、宁、青一带。“河州花儿”是“甘肃花儿”的主要组成部分。“甘肃花儿”2009年被联合国教科文组织列入世界非物质文化遗产名录。临夏被誉为“中国花儿之乡”，2002年，联合国教科文组织专程对地质公园西北部永靖县花儿、社火财宝神等民俗文化进行了采录，2004年联合国教科文组织授予永靖县“联合国民歌考察采录基地”称号。2004年10月19日中国民间文艺家协会授予甘肃省临夏回族自治州“中国花儿之乡”称号。临夏被中国民间文学艺术家协会授予“中国花儿之乡”。
“Hezhou Hua'er” is a major component of“Gansu Huaer”which has been listed in World Intangible Cultural Heritage List. Linxia was awarded "the hometown of folk song Hua’er in China" by The Chinese Folk Literature Artists Association. In 2002, UNESCO made a trip to Yongjing county in the northwest of the geopark to collect "Hua’er" and folk performance"Shehuo treasure god" and other folk cultures. In 2004, UNESCO awarded Yongjing county the title "UN Folk Song Survey and Collection Base".
