From October 9th to 16th, the 8th International Training Course on UNESCO Global Geoparks  was successfully held in Xiangxi Global Geopark. The training course was hosted by the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network (GGN), the UNESCO Global Geopark Secretariat, and organized by China University of Geosciences (Beijing) and Xiangxi Global Geopark.

The theme of this training course is "UNESCO Global Geoparks and Sustainable Development", which lasts for 7 days. The UNESCO Global Geoparks Council, the Executive Board of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network, and renowned experts in global geoparks in China are invited to teach. Through expert lectures, problem analysis, and field visits, training and discussions will be conducted on the concept, standards, application, evaluation, and re-evaluation of global geoparks.

During the conference,staff of Linxia Global Geopark actively participated in classroom discussions, exchanged and shared their training experiences with colleagues around the world, as well as the achievements of Linxia Global Geopark in management and construction, geoheritages protection, community development, and science popularization in recent years.

The representatives of this training course not only systematically and deeply learned about the definition, standards, and evaluation system of the UNESCO Global Geoparks, but also gained an understanding of advanced management and construction theories and methods. At the same time, they broadened their international perspective, grasped the forefront direction of the development of the Global Geopark, improved their management level, and effectively promoted the high-quality and sustainable development of the Linxia Global Geopark.
